Safety and Security

SCROLL DOWN

Safety and Security

We understand the importance of safety and security when it comes to your child. Leaving your child in a new place can be overwhelming if you don’t know what to expect so we wanted to take a moment to put your mind at ease and let you know what policies and safety measures we take to ensure that our PromiseKids have a safe, fun and Jesus filled time with us.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

All PromiseKids Dream Team members receive training, which covers our vision of ministry, policies and procedures, curriculum and guidelines for effective and age appropriate teaching.

A team of two or more PromiseKids Dream Team member staffs all classrooms. For safety reasons no child is left in a room or anywhere unattended. When dropping off your child to Sunday school we ask that you wait with your child until PromiseKids Dream Team member greets your child.

Promise Kids has an open door policy so that all parents/guardians have access to their child at all times, but parents/guardians must follow guidelines. If you need to check on your child, please ask a Promise Kids Dream Team member or staff to assist you or wait at their classroom door until you are invited in.

For safety reason and in order to not interrupt what Jesus is doing in our classrooms we lock the Student Center 30 minutes after class has started. A PromiseKids Dream Team member, staff member or member of security will be present in the Student Center lobby to assist and monitor anyone who may come in and out of the building during service times.

If you are new to Promiseland we would love to help you register your kids. We ask that arrive at least 15 minutes prior to service so that we can set you up and show you the building/classroom and introduce your PromiseKid to their teacher.

Secure Check-in/Check-out Procedure

Check-in

All regular attendees and first time guests will check in at one of the Check-In Stations.

1. Please take your child to the bathroom before checking them in. While we will take them to the restroom if needed, it’s much easier for you to do it before the service begins.

2. Parents will receive a sticker with a unique number; the child receives the other half of that sticker. First time guests, we will escort you to the classroom for you and your child to see where they will be having class.

3. In the event you lose your claim ticket, you will be asked to return to check-in for a copy. Your child’s safety is our first priority even if it requires extra time.

4. Please do not send your children to the classroom with snacks, toys, dolls, electronic devices or other items that may distract them or their peers during their time at church.

5. As a courtesy to Promise Kids Dream Team members, we ask that you pick up your child promptly after church service.

Please note that for security purposes only authorized people are allowed in the classrooms. If, as a parent, you would like to attend class with your child please talk to the teacher and request permission.

If you are needed for any reason during church service, you will be paged on the large screens using the code from your claim ticket. Parents will be notified if their child remains inconsolable and unable to adjust for longer than 10 minutes. Regular attendance and positive conversations about church will alleviate most separation anxiety problems.

Check-out

1. Parents wait at the door to the child’s classroom for volunteers to summon your child.

2. Children will NOT be released to anyone other than the person with the correct security tag. Siblings 15 years and older are allowed to pick up kids from class. No exceptions to this rule.

3. On the child’s way out of the classroom, the security volunteer verifies that your number and your child’s number match.

Restroom and Diaper Policy

Promise Kids volunteers, ten years and older, may accompany children to the restroom and stand outside while the child uses the restroom. If children need assistance while in the restroom a second adult will be called upon to help. A child is never to be left alone behind a closed door with one adult.

All diaper changes will be done by a woman volunteer and in the presence of another adult. Diapers will be checked each service. A child is never punished for toilet accidents. Until a child is fully potty trained, parents should send them in a pull-up.

For Nursery Kids and Toddler Classes Parents are requested to use only disposable diapers while at church. Please bring an adequate supply of disposable diapers and wipes as well as an extra change of clothes for all infants and toddlers.

These are just a few of our policies here at PromiseKids to ensure the safety of our Dream Team Members and your child. If you would like a more in depth look at our policies and safety plans or have any questions, please email katie@psmchurch.com
